You know those mystery symptoms that plague us and often women more than men? It could be the results of insulin resistance. What many people don’t understand is that insulin is a hormone. The typical American diet sends our blood sugar up and down as it is a high glycemic diet. That means our system is flooded with sugar that the body doesn’t know what to do with, so it stores it as fat and because the brain didn’t get the energy it needed you feel tired and then eat more sugar. Up and down with the blood sugar, meanwhile your insulin is all over the place, you’re tired and gaining weight. I don’t have the most scientific mind so this is the simplified version.
The diet to keep your blood sugar level is fairly simple, that’s the good news. It is contrary to the diet most American’s follow and that is the bad and good news both. In the beginning it may be very difficult to change your diet as you feel like you are giving up all the good foods you are used to eating. After a few weeks you will feel so much better and also find new foods to replace the ones you miss and it will get easier. Now, I couldn’t go back to eating ‘normal’ as the foods are unappealing to me.
About 20 years ago I found the Zone Diet by Barry Sears and it changed my life. When I started the diet my hands were so weak and painful it was difficult to hold onto the steering wheel of my car and slept in a hand brace. One week after starting the diet my pain was gone. Now, years later I understand the pain was due to inflammation and following the Zone Diet freed me. The diet also mellowed out my hormones and made me easier to live with.

I have read many articles along this line and I keep migrating back to following the Zone Diet. The first book is hard to follow, but Barry Sears wrote more than one and all of the others are more understandable.
According to Wikipedia the symptoms for insulin resistance are:
- Brain fogginess and inability to focus.
- High blood sugar.
- Intestinal bloating – most intestinal gas is produced from carbohydrates in the diet, mostly those that humans cannot digest and absorb.
- Sleepiness, especially after meals.
- Weight gain, fat storage, difficulty losing weight – for most people, excess weight is from high fat storage; the fat in IR is generally stored in and around abdominal organs in both males and females. It is currently suspected that hormones produced in that fat are a precipitating cause of insulin resistance.
- Increased blood triglyceride levels.
- Increased blood pressure. Many people with hypertension are either diabetic or pre-diabetic and have elevated insulin levels due to insulin resistance. One of insulin’s effects is to control arterial wall tension throughout the body.
- Increased pro-inflammatory cytokines associated with cardiovascular disease.
- Depression. Due to the deranged metabolism resulting from insulin resistance, psychological effects, including depression, are not uncommon.
- Acanthosis nigricans.
- Increased hunger.

In addition to changing your diet it is important to practice meditation or relaxation. Stress produces cortisol and that makes the insulin resistance worse.
Beautiful skin should not stop with your face and Menrva’s Kiss is priced economically so you are able to use it as an all over body creme. I apply Super Menrva’s Kiss on my face morning and night and also over my entire body after bathing.
For the face: First I wash with aloe vera, the same aloe vera juice that I drink daily. After applying aloe vera to my face and rinsing twice I apply the aloe vera juice once more and leave it on my skin. With my skin damp from aloe vera I follow with the Menrva’s Kiss Super Shea Nerium Skin Creme. The same procedure could be used with Menrva’s Kiss Shea Nerium Skin Creme. Usually, I pat off the excess with a towel. If I don’t my skin feels too greasy. My friend washes with aloe vera and follows with a much smaller amount of Menrva’s Kiss and he’s having great results. I’m probably using more than I need to.
For the whole body: Ahh… talk about luxury and at such an economical price. I love what Menrva’s Kiss is doing for my skin, face and body! My skin is very soft and that includes my feet and the dreaded heel area. I love how it has evened out my skin tone and is fading scars and 28 year old stretch marks. Some small scars have vanished (as have acne scars on my face). The really cool things is, my skin felt softer right away.
After I bath I splash the aloe vera juice on my entire body and then apply a thin layer of Menrva’s Kiss Super Shea Nerium Skin Creme (same procedure for Menrva’s Kiss Shea Nerium Skin Creme). Problem areas get the creme first and I spread out from there. For me that means my knees, feet and the skin near my underarms that used to look wrinkly. Again, if I spread it on too thick I blot my skin lightly with a towel before dressing. Also, I’m careful not to get it in my hair or it will look greasy. That gets me thinking though and I will soon see how Menrva’s Kiss works as a hair treatment.
If I’m careful a jar will last me a month for my face and body both. If I’m really spreading it on thick then I need a refill after three weeks.
Aloe vera will go bad if left out of the refrigerator for too long, so I keep a small bottle in the bath that has a two or three day supply in it. So far I haven’t had a problem with it spoiling.
By the way, I used to get chronic migraines until I began drinking a gallon of aloe vera juice a week. After one week the migraines became headaches and three weeks later no migraines or headaches. If I feel one coming on I drink a huge glass of aloe vera juice. After six years of chronic migraines I am beyond happy to have discovered such a simple cure. Between aloe vera juice and taking food grade diatomaceos earth twice a day my lyme disease symptoms have vanished. Most feed stores have food grade diatomaceos earth (I pay $0.99 a pound for mine).
Enjoy your Menrva’s Kiss!
I have been practicing facial acupressure for over ten years and if I don’t press my facial points I will notice a difference after three days. While I highly recommended the book I learned from ‘Facelift Naturally’ has it beat.
The author, Julia M. Busch, makes it easy with clear instructions and a fail-proof system for finding the points. Once you learn the system then you may practice when you have a few minutes, I rarely perform the entire treatment all at once. By following the exercises in the book you will reduce wrinkles, puffiness and tighten up the skin and you will also feel more relaxed and enjoy some improvement in your health.
The book is reasonably priced and performing the treatments is a FREE and painless procedure with no negative side effects (only positive).
